What it Means to be a member of Independent Unity:
Practicing the Principles:
One of the most obvious reasons for coming to IU is that it transforms lives when the principles taught are practiced. IU is a way of life. When this way is pursued, positive changes result. A member is a person who has made a commitment to positive change through the study and practice of Unity principles. This is done, both in the privacy of your own home and through the attendance of classes, Sunday morning lessons, and seminars provided by the church.
Financial Support:
Independent Unity is supported entirely by the love offerings of it’s members and friends. This church is unique among churches in that it does not solicit pledges from it’s membership. It is the responsibility of those who attend Independent Unity, to financially support it. Membership means that you are interested enough in expanding the influence of this church, to financially support it. The amount given, however, is decided by the giver.
Volunteer Support:
No church could function without the help of volunteers. Volunteering can be fun, educational, enriching and give a sense of belonging. To be of value to the volunteer and to the church, however, it must be done freely and lovingly. For this reason you will never be badgered into serving in ways that put a strain on your time or abilities. The best volunteers are those who give their time and talent freely and because they are interested in seeing their church prosper.
